Covid-19 and the YRC

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

This is an exceptional situation, and I think as a club we need to take a serious but sensible and proportionate approach. Let’s start with the good news; at the time of writing it still seems OK to go out in your locality and enjoy the countryside in groups of 2 or less on foot or bicycle – but we should not meet people with whom we are not otherwise in close contact, or travel to other areas away from where we live. “Social distancing” is really important if we are to slow down the spread of the infection and make it more likely that the NHS and other services can cope, so we should not meet at huts or each other’s houses or share cars. We should also take note of advice about self-isolation with symptoms, handwashing etc.

Meets
As a result, all forthcoming meets are either cancelled or postponed – Tim Josephy has already circulated details.

Lowstern and Low Hall Garth Huts
For the time being I would ask YRC members NOT to use either of our huts, which are both now CLOSED. Existing bookings have been cancelled and NO new bookings for YRC or external hut use will be taken. Depending on how things evolve, we MAY be able to consider limited access in the weeks to come.  If we are able to change our  policy on this we will let you know.

Please let’s stick to the sensible advice, and not put each other, the NHS or our families at risk. I hope there will be better news later in the year.

Rory Newman
President
