Scottish winter meet, Crianlarich

27th February to 2nd March 2025 at the Ochils MC Inverardran Cottage in Crianlarich. Located at the North end of Loch Lomond and a relatively short journey from Glasgow, Crianlarich is surrounded by Munros and not too far from Glen Coe or Killin.

We have 18 places booked at Inverardran Cottage, a warm and comfortable refuge from the (hopefully) icy wastes outdoors. It is also within easy walking distance of the hostelries of the village. Tom Spencer is looking forward to hosting you for the long weekend.

  1. This is not a booking !
Noting the Club would be at Crianlarich in Feb nudged me to look at my hill diary for 1964. Some time in that month and that year member George Spenceley urged me to go with him and experience Scottish mountains in winter. And so my first ever Munro was Ben More in full winter raiment. The only thing to be seen when near the top was an eagle…..another first. I once read that Ben More ‘has the longest unbroken slope in Scotland’….. let me know if you think so too ! Two years later including the Fionn Loch meet I joined the Club. Happy days !

  2. Me again !
Those intending to go on the Crianlarich meet might like to read the account by Louis Baume of being avalanched off Ben Lui during the Easter meet in 1963 !
Unfortunately he doesn’t name the others in the party except one named Dave……probably further research into the meet report may reveal the other ‘survivors ‘.
Just enter ‘Ben Lui Avalanche’ in the journal archive and you should find the article.
